It might seem crazy to even try and make this comparison, but when you really look at the numbers it makes a lot more since than you think. Although LeBron has complete media attention, is labeled “King James,” and is possibly having one of the greatest seasons in history, who would you rather have on your team?
This season is Rondo’s assist to turnover ratio is 3.18 compared to LeBron’s 2.45. Rondo is also shooting better from the floor with a shot percentage of .501 compared to LeBron’s .488 and Rondo is averaging 1.9 steals per game compared to 1.77 by LeBron. You are probably thinking that LeBron averages 28.5 point compared to Rondo’s 11.9. Well Rondo also has three hot hands to feed every night and is only making $1,315,080 compared to $14,410,581 a year this year. That means Rondo is only getting paid $110,510.92 per point compared to LeBron’s $505,634.42 per point. If Rondo was put on a faster pased team he would almost be guaranteed 20-25 points per game, especially if his big three were Mo Williams, Zydrunas Ilgauskas, and Delonte West.
In final argument Rondo has a ring, LeBron does not, Rondo also has the supporting cast to win another championship, and LeBron does not in Cleveland. If LeBron had players like Boston does to carry them he would still be good, but not be having the statistical season he is having. So the question is asked to you, who would you rather have on your team Rondo, or LeBron?
Rondo is probably my favorite player (or second behind Paul Pierce) in the league, and I would much rather have Lebron over either of them (or any other player in the league for that matter).
